Good Foods Vs Bad Foods

How many times have you read articles like these:

-These 6 foods will help you get rid of belly fat!

-You need these superfoods to make muscle gains!

-Secret superfoods to getting big!

-Hollywood diet that will make you look like Hugh Jackman?

These are the exact articles that I want you to stay away from. The are no such things as good foods or bad foods. In fact seeing foods as good or bad isn't the best way to have a healthy long term relationship with food. People have read these extremely alluring clickbait articles over the internet and have develop a new and different understanding of nutrition. And the interest in this exciting but completely unscientific literature has given birth to the good food/bad food syndrome. No food can be labelled as "good" or "bad" in isolation to the rest of your diet, only a diet as a whole can be seen a healthy or an unhealthy one.

The symptoms of the good food/bad food syndrome include classifying foods as intrinsically good and bad. For instance, brown rice is good and white rice is bad. Fruit is good and ice-cream is bad. But according to me, there are no foods that are good or bad. What I mean to say here is that it is very easy to have a horrible diet that consists only of good foods. You are wrong to judge or label a food item “good or bad” in isolation while not considering the rest of your diet.

To illustrate this further, I will give you an example of how we can have a bad diet comprising of good foods. I have, in my time, eaten a shit ton of avocados, walnuts, almonds, lean meats and still had an unhealthy diet. This is because I would eat a “shit-ton” i.e., be in a caloric excess of the good foods and that was the issue.

To the contrary, I also feel that you could have a great balanced diet with the occasional burger, fries and even a slice of cake. This in my opinion would be a healthy diet and would keep you sane. Moderation is key at the end of the day. And an excess of anything is bad. I mean you could have too much water and screw up your body as well (google it, I am not joking).

In the end, to wrap up this topic, I would like to go to how I started this topic - THERE ARE NO GOOD FOODS OR BAD FOODS. There can only be GOOD DIETS AND BAD DIETS.

And you are the one who needs to choose what kind of diet it is that you want yours to be (of course with a little help from this book)
